Step 3: Preparing for Your Design Session

What happens in a typical Design Session?

During your session, we will make selections for all paint colors, cabinets, countertops, flooring, and the exterior, as well as any additional upgrades.

How can I prepare for my Design Session?

Please come prepared with inspiration photos. You can find inspiration photos anywhere, or you can use the photos on our website gallery or on our Pinterest board. Sessions are typically quicker for people who bring photos (about 2 hours). Otherwise, the session may take 4 hours or more.

We have all of our selections available on our Pinterest. Feel free to start picking out items that you like, or see how we have paired selections in our other homes.

I just came in for my Design Session. Now what?

After you have a Design Session, you will have 72 hours to sign off on your selections and pay for any upgrades. We will not be able to order materials or begin the construction process until then.

Can I change my selections after the session?

You can change your selections for free before signing off on your plan. Please note, though, that we are not able to begin construction on your house until you approve your selections. Any delay in selections sign-off will result in a delay in construction, and therefore a delayed closing date.

If you want to change your selections after sign-off, there will be a $500 change fee as well as any additional cost for materials or installation. We will also need to halt construction on your home until the new selections are ordered and delivered, which will result in a delayed closing date.

Can I come in for a second Design Session?

Most homeowners typically only need one session to make their selections, especially if they are prepared with inspiration photos. Any additional sessions will cost $150/hour to meet with our designers.

What if I want a design element that isn't offered?

If you are not satisfied with our list of Standard and Upgrade options, you can request a custom option. Each request will cost $250 for us to obtain a quote from our vendors, on top of the cost of materials and installation. However, our list of Standard and Upgrade options is curated to include a full spectrum of options, and is constantly refreshed to stay current with design trends. We are confident that you will find something you love here!
